No Pain No Gain 1-26-06

Today we woke up early to go back to the hospital for Andrea's eye surgery. It all went well however she is in a lot of pain and it will take many months to know the full result of the surgery. We just have to continue to pray and ask God for her sight to be restored.

Tomorrow she has an appointment to revisit the eye doctor for a check up. She will be receiving physical therapy for the first time at home. The lung doctor is also sending breathing treatment to the house to help clear her lungs.

Andrea has begun to really love hearing the blog comments now that she is more awake and at home where we have internet 24/7. Please keep the comments coming and I will continue to read them each day. Also keep the prayers headed her way and will get this girl healed. God night and God Bless.

J and Andrea -- this is my favorite part of the day -- to hear your updates, because I know you are in good hands, and your progress has been so immense. You have been in my thoughts and prayers all day. You know I am a veteran at eye surgery. I was told that since no blood vessels go to the eye, that it took longer to heal. Don't know if I have that right -- but that is one thing I remember, and they may have just been talking about the cornea, which was my problem. Anyway, I'm sending lots of prayers your way. I know it must be so good for you to be home. I am sorry about the pain -- and I am hoping and praying that it will be short-lived.

J -- thanks again for all the updates.

Love,

Carolyn Frazier

Hey Guys,
I've been trying to call, but I know you must be super exhausted from all the activities going on. Anyway, just wanted to let you know how much I love you both, and that I'm still praying everyday for you. Andrea, my mom and dad send all their love. We have been praying together every night before bed for you, every single night, no matter what. Anyway, I can't imagine how happy you must be to be home. Next Wednesday I leave to go out of town for work for a week and a half, but as soon as I get back, I'm coming to see you. I love you. Call me if you can, Ill keep trying to get ahold of you. I love you so so so much. I think about you all the time, and always want to tell you things, I'm saving all my stories up for you. Anyway, this is the longest message ever, but I love you and I love you and I love you. I miss you so much. Thanks for being so strong J.

Love you guys.

J. and Andrea, I love hearing from you. I'm glad the eye surgery is over and now is the time for healing. Take it easy and try to enjoy some of the love and special attention you are now receiving. Everyone here in Corinth, Mississippi is praying for you. As a animal lover myself, I know Zeus is very happy to have you home. I'd be willing to bet that the food is better at the Martin's than it was at the hospital. If Andrea is now enjoying this blog tell her again about the flying squirrels we captured in my classroom. They lived for awhile with an animal rescuer in the cage with a hamster and are now free in the back yard of one of my students Grandmother with a bird house for shelter and a bird feeder just in case they need a little help with their food. There is never a dull moment in an elementary school. It's going to get better Andrea, one day at a time.

Andrea,
I hate hearing that you are in pain, you have been through so much already. I hope that it fades fast, and your eyesight returns soon. I'm so happy to know that you are home now, and that you are surrounded by so many wonderful people. You are in every one of my thoughts and prayers.

miss you,
Andrew
-How's your little guy Zeus doing? I bet he's up to no good.

Andrea - it's great to hear you're doing so well! My wife, Mary Beth, and I are praying that the Lord will restore your health.

Tell your little dog, Zeus, hello for us. Mary Beth and I have a little dog named Boo Radley (from the character in To Kill a Mockingbird).

Here are some photos of him

We spoil him just a little too much, but what can you do? Little dogs are the best! Hang in there!

My family and I pray for you. Hang in there, it sounds like you are making progress. I am shuttling a van of nuns to a sister appreciation dinner tomorrow night, I'll have them include you in their prayers. I'm still hoping to meet a flying nun. I'll let you know if I do.

Hi Andrea--we have never met, but I have been keeping tabs on you since my sister, Lauren Wylie, told me about what you were going through over the holidays. I was shocked and really sad to hear about your sickness at the time, but that has since turned to feeling so amazed and excited about your ongoing recovery. The first thing that Lauren told me about you was how wonderfully strong and beautiful and giving you are and I can see that she is obviously not alone in feeling that way about you. Your fighting spirit is inspiring us all daily and you are truly blessed to be surrounded by J. and so many others that are rooting for you. I am so glad to hear that you are at home now and just wanted to leave a little note to let you know that you have people praying for you that you don't even know yet! :) I would love to come visit you next time Lauren and I are in Texas...and to give you a really big hug.

With love from LA,
Shannon Wylie

J & Andrea,

I am continually amazed at the unfolding of your beautiful love story.

Life is full of painful experiences that make us "stronger in the broken places." God is working in your lives. Andrea, I can imagine that you probably see more clearly than before -- with the eyes of your heart.

God is greater than our pain. Prayerfully yours!

I love reading your updates everyday. They are the best part of my day. I am so thankful that I could witness God's hand at work with this miracle. Andrea, you have overcome so much already, I know you will be able to accomplish anything you set out to do in the future. I am thrilled to hear that your eyesight is improving and can not wait to hear more amazing news. Jay and Andrea, you are both awsome people, we are continuing to pray for both you and your families daily. We hope to see you soon. We love you guys

Andrea,
I met with the sisters from the order of the sacred heart and shuttled them to our dinner. The originiate from the island of Malta. The mother superior was from Malta, two of the sisters are from India and one from Kenya. I ask them to include you in their prayers and told them a little bit about you. The sisters did not waste any time. I had to pull over and we got an Our Father, a Hail Mary and several other prayers of intercession. I then took the sisters to a mass where afterwards we hosted a dinner for them. We also had a DJ, and the mother superior told me that she danced for the first time ever( I'm thinking the first time in about 60 yrs give or take a decade). I want you to imagine a bunch of nuns (in habits)doing the chicken dance and the YMCA. It was about the funniest thing I've ever seen. I am smiling just thinking about it. They were very sweet. I took them home about 9pm and off they went to pray some more. Just remember that the only hard day was yesterday, that each day that you are able to spend with your family and loved ones, is a great day.
