A Little Set Back 3-6-06

On Monday of last week Andrea had a spinal tap to determine whether the leukemia was in her nervous system. The good news was that test was negative, but the bad news was the spinal tap caused extremely painful headaches. They lasted all week and she couldn't keep any food down during that time. We started all over in the weight gaining arena.

Saturday the headaches ceased and she had a great time with her friends that night. Monday we went back to the doctor and the IV fluids from the week before lowered the Calcium level but not the Creatine in the kidneys. They found bacteria around her trachea and prescribed a drip that can be done at home.

She will be resting and eating as much as she can all week. Please continue to pray for her kidneys, tummy, and eyes. She loves each and every one of you. God night and God Bless.

Andrea & J:
Great news regarding the spinal tap results. Sorry, you had the spinal headache last week, and I hope you are much better by now. I am still up, it is about midnight. I am in my last accounting class and struggling somewhat. After working all day, my mind can't comprehend accounting very well! I check the blogspot daily, wanting to hear from you, and I am so glad you were able, J., to send a message today. Have you tried freezing ENSURE? we do that for patients and it is much better tolerated. Try the protein drinks if you can; mixed with fruit, especially banannas, it is pretty good. Please know that Jim & I pray for you daily!
Continued prayers,
Shelia

Andrea,
Headaches are no fun- so thankful that they've finally passed! I was at a HS band concert this evening and had a chance to visit with someone who is praying for you as she knew you as a young girl. She shared with me how she has been keeping up with your progress by reading this blog. Another thing she shared was how touched she was by J.'s love for you. You both are blessed with a true love for each other- the kind of love every parent prays their child will find.
Speaking of parents, please give hugs to your mom and dad. You all are so precious to me.

Hey girlie,
I am so glad to hear that you're feeling better and that your head doesn't bother you anymore. I miss you so much and can't wait to see you. I will be back in Katy on Thursday and we can hangout. Take it easy and don't get discouraged about the minor set back last week, if you stay positive it will help you get through the rough times and make the good days even better. Smile sweetheart, we love you. I'll see you real soon... Love you sis

Andrea, it is great your test came back OK! Years ago my Wife had a spinal tap with the same results as yours, a severe headache. Sorry you had to indure that. As I stated in the past I pray our Father will turn your pain into purpose.

Your Brother in Christ!

Hi Andrea and J

I just wanted to say hello and to tell you that we think about you both all the time. Larry, Kaydee' and I will be in Houston this weekend at the George Brown Center for a weekend of VOLLEYBALL. Kaydee' is wearing us out.
Andrea you are such a fighter, and God will bless you.
I love both of you.
Ms. Kay
