Andrea is strong 12-29-05

Another improving day and Andrea continues to impress everyone with her strength. Early this morning they took her down to the lowest setting on the ventilator and reduced more of her pain meds. If she continues to do well on the ventilator setting she will be taken off and put on oxygen support. That will be a big step for her. She did not get dialysis today, but might receive it tomorrow. She sat up on the side of the bed early in the morning and brushed her own teeth. Then later on in the morning occupational therapy came by and she sat up for ten minutes on her own. They also had her do some more arm and leg exercises that she had no problem doing on her own. Liver and kidney numbers stabilized today so maybe we will start a downward trend and get rid of this infection. She was still running a fever today but was down from yesterday.

Again she continued to talk with her mouth all day today and we could understand every word. We got her some audio books so she could listen to them when no one was allowed in the room. Her spirits are way up and she just wants out as soon as possible. Today was just such a great day for Andrea and she was so much more alive. Her mind is all there and wants to do anything she can to help herself get better. All the support has really helped her get through all this. Just knowing all of you are out there and would do anything. Just keep praying and all of our prayers will be answered. Talk to everyone tomorrow.

Yeah God! Keep up the good work Andrea! If you need a little extra strength, just think of all the friends and "extra parents" you have behind you.
We love you.

Jay, thank you so much for keeping everyone informed. It is hard to go a day or two without knowing what is going on. I think of Andrea and she is in my dreams all well and happy as can be. I miss her very much and pray for her often. I am so thankful that she is getting stronger and is well on the road to recovery. Tell her miss her and give her a huge hug for me.

Thanks again and take care.

J,

Praise God!!! How exciting -- brushing her own teeth. Oh, how we take the little things for granted.

Even though Andrea went to Taylor, I think she has the fight of a Tiger in her. :)

Thanks J for the great example of love and encouragement.

Love and Peace,

David & Phyllis Barnett

Thank you so much for setting up this blog to inform us of Andrea’s progress and more importantly thanks to you for all you have provided to Andrea & her family before and during this difficult time. I know they all love you so much & now the world knows why! Please give a hug to Bob & Kathy for me.

I am so thankful for your continued improvements. It is so hard for me to grasp that this all happened to you so fast but if anyone can withstand it you can! Stand strong and remember …

Jay - please tell Andrea that entire Pi Phi class above her has been praying daily. We KNOW she will pull through this! It sounds as if she has made incredible progress in the past week. Katie (Heck) Towsen is a nurse at the hospital and has been also giving us updates as often as possible - for this I am thankful. I can't tell you how helpful it has been the past few days to read her progress through this site. I used to wait for Kristin's email and this has just made it easier for all those who love and miss Andrea dearly. Please tell Andrea I love her and just know she will be out in no time.
THANKS! Jenna Graham

Thank you for doing this for her. I feel that it is bringing more prayer than ever her way. Keep your faith strong, Lori Robbins
