Eye Surgery 1-19-06

Today Andrea had the surgery on her right eye. As of now we don't know the full result, but the doctor seems to think she might gain so partial vision. When I know more I will keep let everyone know. She was very upset that she could see tonight when they took the patch off the eye to put drops in. Let's all pray that her right eye vision will improve over time. The surgery on her left eye will happen sometime soon, but we unsure if we will be using the same doctor. We'll just have to see.

Other than that the day was pretty uneventfully. Hopefully we will be able to take her home soon. They are not doing anything in the hospital that couldn't be done from home. Everyone keep praying and we will have her home soon. She loves every one of you and appreciates all the support. Tomorrow I will have some more good news I am sure. Talk to everyone soon. God Bless.

J. I just read about Betty sneaking in Zeus...That is exactly what I would have done..I am a true animal lover, to the extreme, and that is the best medicine you could have given her. Andrea is constantly in my thoughts (you too) and prayers. We ate out with Carey and a friend (a girl) tonight and we talked about the two of you. Andrea has come a long way and she will continue to improve daily. Tell her that her little dog will not forget her. I pray for her sight to return. Tell her that she now has a very large family in Mississippi. I love you J.

Hey there! Andrea, you are doing awesome! I'm so proud to be able to know you. You are an incredibly strong woman with an incredibly strong guy to support you. I know you are more than ready to put this behind you and go home -- and I can't say that I blame you. Keep working at it, keep praying about it, and it will happen. The doctors will let you go home as soon as they can. Love you much!

Andrea, I just want you to know that you have been in my thoughts and prayers. Andrew has been keeping me up to date and I am so glad that your condition has improved. I went to the blood drive yesterday at Centerpoint, unfortunately my iron was too low to donate, but I will be going back next week to try again. Please know that so many people are thinking of you and that you are greatly missed. You are truly loved and admired. All the best to you --Jessica Falscroft

Andrea:

Hey amazing girl!!! You are such an inspiration to us all; can you even imagine how many people around the world are keeping you in their thoughts and prayers? Yesterday I went to my monthly Apheresis appointment at the Blood Center in Katy. They were giving me a hard time about missing my December appointment but when I told them I went to St. Luke’s to directly donate for a friend, they asked who. As soon as I mentioned your name, sparks of recognition flew; they all confirmed that so many people have come in to give because of you! So, I am thinking you might just want to give up insurance and run for mayor as the entire town knows your name and the obstacles you have overcome. I can not even begin to imagine how your overwhelming eyesight difficulties discourage you but please don’t let them hinder your spirit. Just look back at all that you have overcome…this is just another step. You are one of the bravest people I know (you always have been) and you will conquer this as well! Please attempt to have patience so your body will be calm and open to additional healing. And as always, you are in my prayers!

"Patience serves as a protection against wrongs as clothes do against cold. For if you put on more clothes as the cold increases, it will have no power to hurt you. So in like manner you must grow in patience when you meet with great wrongs, and they will then be powerless to vex your mind."
Leonardo da Vinci (1452 - 1519)

J,
Thanks for the update and tell Andrea that all of us in the Atlanta Office are pulling for her. I think it was great that your Mother took Zeus to see her. Tell Andrea that Zeus did reconize her and was just behaving. I am a a true animal lover and believe they sense what is going on around them. Tell her to keep improving where she can go home to Zeus. We really appreciate you updating everyone daily. Our thoughts and prayers are with you daily.

J. and Family-
It was good running into you last night, it is always nice to see a familiar face. I just wish we were all someplace else instead of Bertner Cafe. We will pray for Andrea's vision and more strength in the coming days. We will be leaving St. Luke's today and then we can just have Home Heath Care visit our streets and kill two birds with one stone to fix both Andrea and Cindy in a more comfortable environment! We continue to think of all of you and pray for healing and strength-

Andrea, Jay and all, a couple of people in my family have had retinal surgery and their vision improved slowly. It was frustrating at first, but each recovered sufficient vision to warrant hope in your case too, sweet girl. Chin up!

Our family is so pleased you are gaining strength, no doubt also due to the people who love you. In that respect, you are all very, very rich.

Our prayers and continued expectation for your recovery.

J and Andrea,
I don't know either of yall. I saw Andrea a couple of years ago when her sister Kristen got married. My sister Emily was in the wedding and I was also there. I remember seeing Andrea and thinking how beautiful she was and not just on the outside, her sprit just seemed to glow. People were magnetized to her. Anyways I wish yall the best and I read this site every morning. God Bless you both.
